Open short-term position (100%) in Remote Sensing

Monitoring status and changes of the earth is essential for a sustainable management of our limited natural resources but also to ensure the functionality of our infrastructure. For a project dealing with the monitoring of pipeline infrastructure in Germany, we are searching for a motivated Remote Sensing specialist to test and develop indicators based on very high resolution imagery to be used in AI systems by our project partners.

Requirements:

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate holding a M.Sc. degree with expertise in remote sensing or spatial data, and handling of various sources of data. A sound knowledge in remote sensing software, geographic information systems (GIS) and programming (e. g., Python, R) is required. The ability to work independently as well as within an interdisciplinary team of collaborators is essential.

The ability to develop devices and to communicate and collaborate with different stakeholders is highly desirable. Further, proficiency in the English language, and the capability to write research reports and peer-reviewed publications are required.

Working environment: We offer a stimulating research environment within an interdisciplinary, dynamic research team at the Earth Observation Research Hub, Institute of Geography at the University of Würzburg in close collaboration with the German Remote Sensing Data Center of DLR. The position is financed for a duration of roughly 4 month and should start in early 2023, with salary according to TV-L (100%).
