Members of the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC) had a visit and workshop at the University of Bergen. Together with our colleagues from the Department of Earth Science and the Center for Integrated Earth Science Education (iEARTH) we discussed future ideas on collaborations in teaching and research under the framework of CHARM-EU.

CHARM-EU is an European University alliance, co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme, between several Universities in Europe. The program aims to design and create a new university model to become a world example of good practice to increase the quality, international competitiveness and attractiveness of the European Higher Education landscape. CHARM-EU represents a Challenge-Driven, Accessible, Research-based and Mobile model for the co-creation of a European University aligned with the European Values, the European Green Deal and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

iEARTH is the Center for Integrated Earth Science Education targeting excellent research-based education through targeted and long-term efforts in developing both teaching and innovative approaches to learning in higher education. In this context, the role of the earth sciences is evolving in response to changing climate, shifting energy landscapes and resource utilization that highlight the interdependence between human society and our planet.
