Forests are under great pressure. These complex ecosystems play an important to mitigate consequences of the global change. They host most of worlds biodiversity, sequestrate carbon from the atmosphere and clean freshwater. Remote sensing techniques does help us to understand forest ecosystems functions and great Earth Observation potential for applications do exist.
Therefore, the Copernicus Network Office Forest organized a networking event from 28th to 30th of March to find synergies, share expert and technical knowledge and define gaps. Participants from all sectors were taking part to share their impressive efforts, like our PhD students Sebastian Förtsch and Patrik Kacic who are working on forest diversity, tree canopy loss and biodiversity.
