Johannes Mast visited the MPI for Demographic Research

May 3, 2025

Last Week, our PhD Student Johannes Mast visited the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock, one of the leading demographic research centers.

Johannes presented our work on the joint use of web data and remote sensing data in the analysis of human migration. Many of the topics the EORC is tackling with remote sensing data are also interesting from a demographic, socioeconomic perspective. For example, urban climate, human mobility and migration, and the way cities across the globe are developing. At the same time, while earth-observing geographers and demographers share interests, their perspectives, methods and theoretical backgrounds differ. Therefore, Johannes was able to gather many new insights and ideas for his work in inspiring and fruitful discussions with the MPIDR’s researchers.
