On May 27, 2022, WASCAL‘s 10-year commitment to combat climate change, improve living conditions, and promote clean and sustainable renewable energy in West Africa was celebrated in Lomé/Togo.
Her Excellency, Prime Minister of Togo, Mrs. Victoire Tomegah-Dogbe, was pleased with the continuous partnership between Togo through WASCAL and BMBF which has allowed development actions over the past decade. She particularly mentioned the importance and relevance of the Doctorate programs in Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management hosted by the University of Lomé.
The ceremony was attended by members of the government of the Republic of Togo, the vice-chancellor and academic dignitaries’ members of the diplomatic corps, and stakeholders from across the world and member countries.
Dr. Michael Thiel represented the University of Würzburg and the Department of Remote Sensing in Lomé and once more took the opportunity to present the BMBF-funded project WASCAL-DE-Coop as an important and continuous part of WASCAL’s success.
