Guest lecture by Dr. Elisabeth Schoepfer

 

 

On 21st June 2023 Dr. Elisabeth Schoepfer from the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) gave a guest lecture on “Managing large international research projects” in the frame of the EAGLE course “Science from wall to wall – from proposal to publication (04-GEO-SOS8). In her lecture she summarized the importance, complexity and challenges of project management on the example of the BMBF-funded projects RIESGOS and its successor RIESGOS 2.0. After a brief introduction to the projects where different experts from Germany, Chile, Ecuador and Peru work together on scenario-based multi-risk assessment in the Andes region, Dr. Schoepfer shared her experiences and gave insights how project management plays a crucial role in the overall success of a joint project.
