The Earth Observation Research Hub at the University of Würzburg (JMU) had the honor of hosting Jeroen Staab, a former student of JMU himself and a research associate at the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) today. On the 24th of May, Mr. Staab visited the EO Research Hub to deliver a guest lecture as part of the EAGLE course “Science from wall to wall – from proposal to publication (04-GEO-SOS8).”

During his lecture titled “PHD Scholarship: Writing and defending a proposal for a PhD project,” Jeroen Staab shared insights and knowledge gained through his own experiences as a recipient of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) scholarship. The lecture was geared towards aspiring researchers, particularly those interested in pursuing a PhD. Jeroen Staab’s presentation covered various aspects, including the structure and content of a successful proposal, key points to consider during the writing process, and effective strategies for defending the proposal.
