New book on Advances in the study of urban heat islands in Latin America (In Spanish)

August 19, 2024

A new open access book on “Advances in the study of urban heat islands in Latin America” (In Spanish) has been published by Richard Lemoine-Rodriguez from our Earth Observation Research Cluster in cooperation with researchers from the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the University of Guanajuato (Mexico).

In this book, the editors aim to highlight the presence of an important Latin American scientific community focused on the study of the intensifying urban heat islands and vindicate the production of knowledge in the local language through an open access book.
In this book, the editors standardized the scientific terms related to the urban climate, which, as they are originally produced in English, they are used in very diverse ways in the Spanish language. The book presents analyzes focused on the urban climate in various countries carried out by 34 authors, providing a broad overview of the urban development trends in Latinamerica and its current and future consequences for local climate change.
