PhD retreat 2024

August 15, 2024

Earlier this month, our PhD students gathered at Germany’s highest environmental research station, Schneefernerhaus (UFS), for a few days of activities. The visit provided a great opportunity to explore the research station and exchange experiences in Earth observation. In addition to scientific discussions, keynote talks by Postdocs and exchange about recent advances in newest EO methods and approaches in the UFS seminar rooms, they went for short hikes despite the challenging weather, cooked a dish they called “Zugspizza”, and enjoy evening games. These activities encouraged lively discussions and helped strengthen the network among the PhD students.
During their visit, they toured the UFS research facilities, which focus on climate and atmospheric observation amongst many other fields of research. They also visited historical sites established in earlier years, such as the Bahnhof Schneefernerhaus and the pedestrian tunnel. Notably, since January this year, the University of Wuerzburg has become an official partner of the UFS. We are excited to be part of this exceptional facility and look forward to visiting again in the future.
