EORC member Florian Betz participated in this year’s fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union which took place this week in Washtington DC. This annual conference is one of the largest and most influential geosciences meetings. This year, 27.000 scientists from all over the world participated. Florian presented ongoing work on the use of geomorphometry and satellite time series analysis for large scale analysis of river networks and their dynamics and introduced a new R package currently being developed at EORC for making such analysis available for the wider scientific community. Attending this meeting gave the chance to learn about the latest developments in earth sciences as well as most recent developments in earth observations missions by NASA which plays a prominent role at AGU. With lots of new inspirations and great contacts and conversations, the conference was definitely a success making it worth to travel to the US.
