vhs Munich visit to DLR

vhs Munich visit to DLR

January 26, 2025

“If you want to understand the Earth, you have to go into space” – this is the motto of a series of events organized by the VHS München this winter. DLR and EORC have contributed twice to the series of events:

On January 24, 2025 a group of 30 participants led by Lydia Weinberger from the VHS Munich had the opportunity to visit the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen. Our professor Hannes Taubenböck gave an introduction to DLR and the Earth Observation Center (EOC) in particular. Kayla Barginda presented the activities of the Centre for Satellite Based Crisis Information (ZKI) and Dr. Torsten Riedlinger showed applications on the reference platform to make geodata accessible to decision-makers. Visitors were also able to visit the German Space Operations Centre (GSOC).

The first contribution from DLR to the VHS series of events was back in November when Hannes Taubenböck gave a presentation on “The view from space – how we live” in Munich. We had reported in this event: https://remote-sensing.org/if-you-want-to-understand-earth-you-have-to-go-into-space-dlr-and-eorc-contribute-to-series-of-events/
