At the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC), we had the honor of hosting Jeroen Staab today – a former student of JMU himself, many years a research associate at the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and now founder of a science driven SME in the field of environmental management and AI.
Mr. Staab delivered a guest lecture as part of the EAGLE course “Science from wall to wall – from proposal to publication”. During this lecture, titled “PHD Scholarship: Writing and defending a proposal for a PhD project,” insights were shared on the knowledge gained through his own experiences as a recipient of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) scholarship.
The lecture was geared towards aspiring researchers, particularly those interested in pursuing a PhD. Jeroen Staab’s presentation covered various aspects, including the structure and content of a successful proposal, key points to consider during the writing process, and effective strategies for defending the proposal.
