Remote Sensing for Germany #1

In a recent #DLR press release (https://www.dlr.de/de/aktuelles/nachrichten/2025/dlr-zeigt-hohe-hitzebelastung-in-deutschen-grossstaedten), our remote sensing (RS) works on heat exposure in German cities have been shown.

The view from satellites, air planes and drones allows to map spatial patterns and their changes on the land surface and the atmosphere. Beyond urban heat, our team has shed light on a variety of thematic aspects, with some research works having a special focus on Germany.

Here is a selection of studies on environmental issues:

Urban heat:

Urban green:

Air quality:

Land consumption:

Noise:

Urban water infrastructure:

Animal behavior

In future posts, we will give an overview on research works on socio-economy, health, risk, statistical issues and the structure of cities.
