A special moment for our EAGLE lecturer and DLR colleague Dr. Thilo Erbertseder to open the SPIE Sensors + Imaging Symposium 2026 in Edinburgh, UK, bringing together around 1,000 participants from across the international community.
He is honored to serve as Symposium Chair and Co-Chair for Environmental Remote Sensing alongside Dr. Chantal Andraud, Research Director at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and Symposium Chair for Security + Defence.
With great pleasure he introduced this year’s plenary speakers: Dr. Kyriaki Minoglou, Head of the Optics, Robotics and Life Science Division at the European Space Agency (ESA), and Prof. Tim Wright, Professor of Satellite Geodesy at the University of Leeds.
During an exciting conference week from 14 to 17 September, Thilo is chairing sessions focused on Remote Sensing Applications and Technologies in Urban Environments with international contributions:

– Urban Resilience, Planning and Intelligence II
– Urban Climate Adaptation
– Urban Air Quality, Climate and Health
The planning of the next symposium in Stockholm, September 2027 has already started. So, EORC early career professionals and EAGLE students will be very welcome there.
