Internship Presentation: Clemens Schömig at Allianz Reinsurance

June 9, 2026

Clemens’s talk highlighted how geodata analysis is crucial for quantifying spatial risks, like floods and hurricanes. Reinsurance companies use this data to develop optimal products and monitor large asset portfolios, taking action if a significant portion is exposed to a threat.

During his time with the Geospatial Solutions Team at Allianz Reinsurance, Clemens gained deep insights into Catastrophe Risk data, learning how spatial analysis translates into underwriting decisions. His tasks included data scraping and enrichment, geospatial analysis and creating specific maps.

Working on global projects alongside an international team made his internship a great experience.
