We’re happy to see that Mainpost, our local newspaper, also reported on the Bavarian State Medal for Outstanding Services to the Environment. Stefan Dech received it on October 21 at the Munich Residenz, and Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber gave the laudatory speech.

Glauber pointed out how Stefan has helped establish earth observation as an essential tool for sustainable planning, conservation or climate adaptation by applying earth observation for various research topics. He also highlighted Stefans interest in consistently pushing for a clear and accessible communication of Earth Observation research.

It’s a good feeling to see earth observation and global change research honored like this, and to see it in the paper people here in Würzburg actually read over breakfast and might get to know more about our research at the University Wuerzburg, at our EORC.
