During the last two days, the team of the FluBig project (
remote-sensing.org/new-dfg-project-on-fluvial-research/) met at the EORC for discussing the ongoing work on fluvial biogeomorphology. After returning from a successful field expedition to Kyrgyzstan a couple of weeks ago, the focus was on data analysis and development of models and remote sensing datasets bringing us closer to answer our research questions about how processes on different spatial and temporal scales lead to the development of riverine landscapes and their functioning. It was particularly great to see the contribution of EAGLE student Clara Vydra, who presented Landsat based inundation time series she developed in the frame of a seminar and the work of EORC PhD student Baturalp Arisoy who demonstrated how state-of-the-art datacubes can be used for large scale analysis of earth surface dynamics. The entire team is now looking forward to see next results coming up and bringing them together in a truly interdisciplinary way.
