New guest researcher from Senegal: Ousmane Badji

February 21, 2024

We are delighted to welcome Ousmane BADJI, our newest guest scientist, to Würzburg. Since his arrival in January 2024, he has integrated seamlessly into our research community. Ousmane has a multidisciplinary background in Agroforestry and Ecology, encompassing both terrestrial and marine sciences and he is a Ph.D. Candidate in Climate Change and Land Use at KNUST University in Kumasi, Ghana. Ousmane’s research interests are mainly focused on climate change and its relative effects on Land uses, adaptation, and mitigation strategies.

Currently, Ousmane is immersed in his research project focused on investigating and modeling the patterns of woody vegetation and its change drivers at the Saloum Delta in Senegal. His work promises to shed light on critical aspects of ecosystem dynamics in this region, contributing valuable insights to conservation and sustainable management efforts.

Moreover, Ousmane is getting interested in Remote Sensing and this represents a promising avenue for advancing our understanding of landscape dynamics. By employing cutting-edge mapping and spatial assessment techniques, he seeks to unravel the intricacies of woody vegetation dynamics across diverse landscapes, offering new perspectives on ecosystem resilience and adaptation in the face of environmental change.
