We welcome our new PhD candidate Elio Rauth at the Earth Observation Research Cluster!
Elio holds a Master’s degree in Data Science from the University of Helsinki, where his thesis was focused on land cover mapping and methane flux prediction in the Finnish Lapland. Before joining the University of Würzburg, Elio worked as a data scientist in Berlin. At the EORC he will conduct his PhD research on land cover changes in the Arctic under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tobias Ullmann. Elio is planning to conduct field work in the Arctic regions of Svalbard and the Mackenzie River Delta in Canada. His PhD project will be focused on connecting remote sensing data from drones and satellites to in-situ data collected in the field.
