Physical 3D building model of Würzburg at the EORC

As part of the “Allianz New Space Mainfranken” initiative by the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) (see e.g. here: https://remote-sensing.org/exploring-new-space-opportunities-in-mainfranken/ ), we have established a collaboration between industry and the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC) at the University of Würzburg.

Here at the EORC, we prepared a highly resolved digital elevation model with all the buildings of Würzburg added for 3D printing. Wolf Engineering GmbH then printed it as a real 3D model. The image shows a perspective view of Würzburg with the residence in the forefront and the Festung Marienburg in the background. Getting such a vivid overview allows us to better grasp spatial patterns and their relations. We would like to thank Wolf Engineering GmbH from the bottom of our hearts and look forward to working with them in the future.
