Update after the first year: BigData@Geo 2.0 workshop with project partners and involved scientists on February 12, 2025

February 19, 2025

The team of the EU-co-financed project BigData@Geo 2.0 from the departments of climatology, data science and the EORC hosted a workshop in the CAIDAS building at the University of Würzburg on 12.02.25 to present the results of the first year of the project and provide an outlook on the research planned for 2025.

25 project partners from the fields of forestry, agriculture, and viticulture as well as representatives of participating institutes and authorities were able to get an idea of how climate models, drone flights of agricultural areas and AI-based algorithms can forecast the climate of the coming years and provide important information on necessary climatic adjustments in Franconia during the various presentations. In a lively and communicative exchange, all presenters were open to questions and suggestions from the participants. At the end of the event, project lead Prof. Dr. Heiko Paeth (climatology) thanked all those present for their valuable contributions, which are an important building block for aligning the research work even better with the needs of the project partners in the future.
