CONAE (Spanish: Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales) is the civilian agency of the government of Argentina in charge of the national space programme. CONAE plays also a key role in education and training in Argentina and the region, offering a variety of programs to develop technical skills in space and geospatial applications. These include introductory courses, a diploma program designed for technicians with different levels of expertise, and postgraduate programs in geomatics and space systems in agreement with the National University of Cordoba (Instituto Gulich).

On Monday 27th October 2025, our Department Head Prof. Hannes Taubenböck was honored to welcome Dr. Fernanda García Ferreyra from CONAE for a guest presentation at the Earth Observation Center (EOC) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen.

As the Director of the Master’s Programme in Spatial Information Applications, Dr. Fernanda García Ferreyra provided insights into the programme and further shared examples of past and current research on air quality applications, integrating satellite observations and atmospheric modelling to address key environmental challenges. Possible collaborations have been discussed with Dr. Torsten Riedlinger, Dr. Elisabeth Schöpfer, Dr. Thilo Erbertseder and Dr. Michael Nolde.
