WASCAL-DE-Coop visits the WASCAL headquarter in Accra

December 6, 2022

Capacity building in the context of Earth observation is of particular relevance for building expertise and resources in West Africa. For this reason, the WASCAL-DE-Coop project at the University of Würzburg visited the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adopted Land Use (WASCAL), which is dedicated not only to research but also to capacity building and development of young professionals in 12 graduate studies programs at various West African universities. Here at the WASCAL headquarter in Accra (Ghana), ideas and concepts on capacity building were shared and discussed with the Director of Capacity Building, Prof. Dr. Daouda Koné, and his team, in November 2022. During a visit to Koforidua Technical University in Koforidua north of Accra, project staff met with WASCAL alumni and discussed future potential research in the context of satellite imagery analysis for West Africa.
