In the last week multiple sites were sampled jointly with our colleagues from South African Parks and University of Bayreuth along the border to Mozambique and Zimbabwe. We collected multispectral and RGB data for all sites covering different landscape types and focusing on various research questions from water stress in trees, elephant impact up to animal tracks.
It was a successful field campaign with long days, as most days started with the sunrise in the morning and ended with data backup and initial inspection at the late evening. It was very productive thanks to our local partners and the great organisation to get the most out of the field work time. As usual certain safety regulations have to be followed and we were more than happy that everything worked out.
We are looking forward to the results of the processed multispectral data and the statistical analysis of these and in-situ data with regards to ecological application. First articles of previous field missions with similar aims will soon be published. Stay tuned for updates on this page.
