Yesterday, Michael Thiel, head of the NetCDA project, took part in the German IIASA Networking Event at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Interesting lectures from, among others, the African Climate Research Centers WASCAL and SASSCAL were followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Tina Beuchelt (Center for Development Research, INTERFACES), Dr. Torsten Weber (GERICS and partner in our LANDSURF project) and Prof. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber (IIASA) on the topic of “Science Diplomacy” in which, among other things, ideas were discussed on how scientific results can be better communicated to civil society. Our colleague used this event for fruitful discussions and to strengthen contacts with German researchers who are active in Africa
