EOCap4Africa training in Kumasi

Today, we launched the testrun for our MSc module on Remote Sensing for Biodviversity Conservation which forms part of the EOCap4Africa project (funded by the Federal Agency of Nature Conservation) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. The project leader Dr. Insa Otte delivered an inspiring opening speech in the presence of the Provost of the College of Engineering (represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Geo-Engineering of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Kwaku A. Adjei), as well as representatives from the WASCAL Graduate School Climate Change and Land Use, including the Director Prof. Dr. Wilson A. Agyare and the Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Eric Forkuo.

More than 20 students are participating in the training, actively engaging with the lecturers. The teaching team consists of trainers from KNUST and the EORC.

The training runs from September 23 to 26 and includes both theoretical and practical components. In the practical sessions, students are introduced to freely available software to ensure long-term accessibility and use.

We are delighted with the excellent cooperation with KNUST and would like to thank our local partners for their outstanding organization and preparation. The pictures below give some impressions from the starting session. More to come soon.
