Last week, our EORC Professor Dr. Tobias Ullmann gave an invited talk at the Geographische Gesellschaft Würzburg (GGW). His presentation, titled “100 Years of Remote Sensing in Germany”, offered an insightful overview of the evolution of Earth observation — from its early beginnings to its current technological achievements and future directions.

Prof. Ullmann guided the audience through the fascinating history of remote sensing, highlighting key milestones in aerial photography, satellite missions, and modern data-driven analysis techniques. He also discussed the current state of Earth observation research in Germany, emphasizing its importance for environmental monitoring, climate research, and sustainable resource management.

The talk concluded with a forward-looking perspective on how remote sensing will continue to evolve over the next decades, shaping our understanding of the planet through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The EORC team congratulates Prof. Ullmann for this inspiring contribution and his continued efforts to promote Earth observation science within both academic and public communities.
