Dr. Ariane Droin presented the works of her PhD-Thesis at the Geo-Kolloquium of the Technical University of Graz with the title “Hochauflösende, skalenübergreifende Modellierung von Nachbarschaftserreichbarkeiten im urbanen Raum” on the 17th of June 2026. She showed that objective urban parameters like floor area ratio can vary strongly on a small scale depending on what reference area is chosen to extract this kind of information. In addition to tha, she also presented that with computational power we are nowadays able to calculate these small scale parameters for whole cités or even countires and that we can derive highly local information from that. This enables us to better understand the variety of the urban landscape on a very high resolution.
