Today, we were honored to have Dr. Martin Fleischmann from the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development of the Charles University in Prague, Czechia at our EORC. Martin focusses in his research on urban morphology and spatial data science.
He gave an inspiring talk today at our EORC seminar series. The presentation titled “Understanding the Structure of Space: Urban Morphometrics as a Backbone of Urban Taxonomy” was focused on a novel, theory-driven, and computationally scalable method of classification of built form. Please find the slides to the presentation here: https://uscuni.org/talks/slides/202512_Wurzburg.html#/title-slide
His work is of special interest to us, as the understanding and quantitative analysis of urban patterns, form and structures plays a big role in our studies, too. See e.g. here for an overview: https://remote-sensing.org/studies-on-global-urbanization/
