We are delighted to share the exciting news that our MSc student Isabella Metz has been awarded the 2025 International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS) Student Award for her outstanding research on:
“Analysis of Uncertainties for Error Detection and Quantification of Bathymetry Data from Multispectral Sentinel-2 Imagery.”
With this achievement, Isabella has distinguished herself internationally and earned recognition from the German Hydrographic Society (DHyG) and IFHS.
As part of the award, Isabella will be an invited speaker at HYDRO25, taking place from 28–30 October 2025 in Liverpool, UK. She will present her work in a dedicated session on 29 October (14:00–15:30), followed by the official award ceremony during the Gala Dinner that same evening.
The prize includes a certificate, a £1,500 award, and support for travel expenses. Furthermore, Isabella’s research will be published in spring 2026 as an invited paper in the International Hydrographic Review (IHR), the peer-reviewed journal of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
This honor highlights both the high quality and global relevance of Isabella’s research, as well as the strength of our MSc program. We warmly congratulate Isabella on this remarkable achievement and look forward to following her continued success.
