New EO4CAM Video: Supporting Climate Adaptation with Earth Observation Data

Climate adaptation requires reliable information, long-term monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making. Our EO4CAM short video highlights how Earth Observation (EO) and satellite-based data can support public authorities and decision-makers in identifying and understanding environmental and climate-related changes.

From increasing heat stress in urban areas to drought impacts, vegetation changes, and land-use dynamics affecting agriculture and forestry, satellite data provides valuable insights for monitoring developments over time and supporting adaptation planning.

EO technologies enable authorities and practitioners to detect gradual changes that are often difficult to assess using conventional methods alone. By combining spatial data, environmental indicators, and climate-relevant analyses, EO-based approaches can contribute to more resilient and sustainable planning processes across sectors.

The video offers a brief introduction to the potential of EO for climate adaptation and demonstrates how EO4CAM with team members from the EORC and the DLR aims to support the use of EO services in practical decision-making contexts.

We invite stakeholders from public administration, climate services, regional planning, agriculture, forestry, and the wider EO community to explore the opportunities of EO-supported climate adaptation. 👉 EO4CAM data portal https://eo4cam.dlr.de/#/home

A reply to the Programming Hero Syndrome post

A while back there was a post about the "Programming Hero Syndrome." This is a small extension to it, from a female perspective to provide a different view. When I started EAGLE, in those first weeks and months, I'd join internship talks or MSc defenses, listen to...
