May 23, 2025

We are pleased to share that our Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) research team leader, Dr. Mirjana Bevanda, recently gave a talk at the workshop “UAS for Forest and Forestry Application and Science.” The event brought together experts from various research institutions and universities to discuss the latest developments and practical uses of UAS technologies in forest science and forestry application.

In her presentation, Dr. Bevanda shared insights from EORCs current research on the use of drones for forest and environmental monitoring, highlighting practical applications as well as the importance of standardized data acquisition. She also addressed key challenges related to processing geospatial data linked to ongoing work by e.g. Dr. Julian Faeth, Antonio Castaneda Gomez or Julia Rieder.

The workshop was enriched by the contributions of participants from institutions such as Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, the University of Freiburg, the Bavarian State Institute of Forestry (LWF), ETH Zurich, and others.

We would like to thank the organizers for a successful and inspiring event and look forward to continued collaboration in this exciting field of research.
