Workshop Report at the Department of Remote Sensing – March 18, 2022

We are glad to announce our next workshop report at the Department of Remote Sensing. On the 18th of March, the MSc EAGLE student Andreas Bury will talk about “The QGIS GeoSens Data Access Plugin and Introduction to the RSDB Database Infrastructure”.

Abstract

QGIS offers the possibility to develop your own plugins and to share them with other users via the plugin installer. To support the GeoSens workshops, a plugin was developed and will be presented in this framework. The QGIS GeoSens Data Access Plugin enables to quickly and efficiently share the data used in our Earth Observation Training with participants. It enables users to select the required data, download it and import it into QGIS. Additionally to the data sharing, the plugin also includes the possibility to calculate vegetation indices directly. Furthermore, the RSDB package of the Philipps-Universität Marburg is presented, which makes the management of remote sensing raster, point-cloud, and vector data online possible.
