A great tradition – the PhD hat

A great tradition – the PhD hat

m

July 17, 2023

Since the beginning a tradition was established that fellow PhD students created a hat for the PhD student that defended that day – with the covid pause it now got reinitialized. The hat depicts the PhD Research topics as well as a lot of social stories among the PhD students plus items related to the candidates hobbies or activities e.g. in this specific case a train for the numerous (public transport) trips around Europe.
It is handed over after the successful defense to the candidate and usually kept for a few years by the candidates. Just search for some dusty hats in their book shelves….
Who the candidate is who had to wear it will be shown in a next post ….
