new team member Lilly Schell

Lilly Schell joined the Earth Observation Research Cluster in October 2024 as a research assistant for the “Network for Capacity Development in Climate Change Adaptations in Africa” project.

Her doctoral research will focus on the use of remote sensing techniques in the field of ecosystem conservation in Africa. Lilly completed her Bachelor’s degree in Geography at the University of Bonn and her Master’s degree in Applied Physical Geography at the University of Würzburg in 2024.

During her Master’s studies, she worked as a student assistant at the Chair of Geoarchaeology and Quaternary Research and at the Chair of Remote Sensing. For her Master’s thesis, she developed a species distribution model to predict spatial and temporal invasion patterns of Lantana camara in a Rwandan national park with the objective to support local conservation efforts.
