Mickey joined the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC) under somewhat unconventional circumstances. Originally from Italy, he was rescued by Antonio and quickly proved that his talents extend far beyond simply being adorable. Shortly after arriving in Würzburg, Mickey became an unofficialāyet widely recognizedāpermanent member of the EORC team.
While Mickeyās academic credentials are still under review, his contributions to the working atmosphere at the office are already undeniable. Whether accompanying staff during coffee breaks, supervising outdoor discussions, or ensuring that everyone takes regular walking breaks, Mickey plays a key role in maintaining team morale.
Mickeyās research interests are broad but focused on a few core themes: sweets, long walks, bicycle travel, chasing drones,Ā and strategic cuteness. He is particularly enthusiastic about fieldworkāespecially when it involves forests, parks, or any location that might give him a chance to supervise drone flights. His ability to quickly establish friendly relations with colleagues and visitors alike has made him a popular presence at the institute.Ā
Outside of the office, Mickey enjoys traveling by bike with his human colleagues, exploring new environments, and maintaining a healthy balance between activity and well-deserved naps. Despite his busy schedule, he always finds time to greet new team members and remind everyone that even the most complex remote sensing problem can benefit from a short walk outside.
Although not officially listed in the organizational chart, Mickey has already secured his place in the daily life of the EORC. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and unwavering commitment to cuteness continue to make him one of the most beloved members of the team.
We are happy to have Mickey as part of the EORC familyāand we are quite certain he plans to stay.
