Today our researchers from the department working on the MONID-HABITRACK project, that is funded by the BMFTR, went to the field to acquire LiDAR, thermal and multispectral data with their drones. Within our department the project is located at the Chair of Remote Sensing and Global Urbanisation that is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Hannes Taubenböck. Researcher Andrea Sofía García-de-León and project lead Dr. Ariane Droin were supported in the field by members of the UAS-Research Team of the EORC which is coordinated by Dr. Mirjana Bevanda. Antonio José Castañeda-Gomez and Dr. Jakob Schwalb-Willmann planned and conducted the flights in the field at 4 different sites within the Amberg-Sulzbach region where the TBE virus is known to occur frequently. The goal is to use this high-resolution data to research what common ecological and micro-climate characteristics these sites have in common to better understand the habitat of the TBE virus.
