NetCDA Network steps into phase 2
On November 3-4, 2026, the NetCDA II (European Academic Network for Capacity Development in Climate Change Adaptions in Africa) project network of 12 German academic partners met at the EORC for their annual meeting. We welcomed our new German research institutions on board: the TH Köln, the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg and ESSEO from University of Würzburg and look forward to the recently launched phase two of the BMFTR-funded network.
NetCDA II aims to strengthen academic education on climate change adaptation strategies in Africa. The project is run by 12 German partners in a project consortium in close collaboration with the graduate school programme of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).
With joint forces, the project partners supervise and train a total of 84 African PhD students of the WASCAL graduate program, who will stay for 6 months at a German partner research institution and thereby stabilize ongoing research activities, expand collaborations and initiate academic exchanges across continents.
We are thankful for two fulfilled days with fruitful discussions, and a great team spirit. The NetCDA II project is coordinated by our EORC team member Dr. Insa Otte with Dr. Michael Thiel as a project lead and Sabine Oppmann as administrative project support.
