Spotlight Series: The People of EORC

Spotlight Series: The People of EORC

March 31, 2026

At EORC we started a Spotlight Series a few weeks ago and will continue in the next weeks and months. While we have long shared the work of our researchers at the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC)—from publications and innovative methods to conference presentations—we now want to take a step further.

This series is about the people behind that work.

From Research Outputs to Real People

Our researchers regularly contribute cutting-edge science: new methodologies, insightful studies, and impactful presentations. But these outputs only tell part of the story. Behind every result is an individual with a unique journey, perspective, and motivation.

With the Spotlight Series, we shift the focus—from what is being produced to who is producing it.

Meet the Faces of EORC

We now want to put faces to the names within EORC. Each feature introduces one of our researchers not just through their work, but through their personal and professional story.

We explore:

  • Their path into remote sensing and Earth observation
  • Their role within EORC
  • The ideas and questions that drive their research
  • The experiences that have shaped their careers

By doing so, we aim to create a stronger sense of connection—both within our team and with the broader community.

Beyond Publications and Presentations

You may already be familiar with our researchers through their scientific contributions. The Spotlight Series complements this by adding a human dimension: the challenges they’ve faced, the motivations that keep them going, and the perspectives they bring to their work.

It’s about understanding the context behind the science.

EORC thrives on collaboration, curiosity, and diversity of thought. By sharing the stories of our own researchers, we hope to strengthen that community—making it more visible, more relatable, and more inspiring.

This new direction of the Spotlight Series reflects something simple but important: science is driven by people. By highlighting the individuals within EORC, we celebrate not just their achievements, but their journeys.

Stay tuned as we introduce the faces of EORC—one story at a time.
